Shia Muslims are Misguided Morons When it Comes to Picking a Leader

If you’ve ever wondered what the main difference between a Sunni/Shia was, you’ve come to the right place. (The title is harsh for a reason. Read on.)

As an agnostic person, I don’t really give any faith much credit. My lack of faith withstanding, it is important to understand, at the least, the main distinction between Muslims.

Even the best of us find it difficult to keep track of the differences between the beliefs and practices of Sunnis and Shiites. “Is he a Sunni with (Shia) sympathies or a (Shia) with Sunni sympathies? I always get mixed up between these two,“ wrote …

Campus Parking is an Abomination

If you’re a commuter, you know how dreadful it can be to find a parking spot. I attend a relatively small (10k students) public university, and if I don’t show up at least an hour before each class then I know I will be late. New buildings continue to gobble up existing lots. There simply isn’t enough gravy to go around.

The worst part is that there is really nothing that can be done about it. It’s science. Until we devise a way to make matter smaller while retaining its shape, cars will have no alternative besides parking higher or parking …

What to Look For During an Apartment Walkthrough

If you’re like me, you have pretty crummy spatial intelligence.

When it comes to eyeballing a picture frame to see if it is centered, I could stand there all day and never get it right. This also affects my ability to thoroughly scrutinize things since I am much more of a big-picture person. You can imagine what I am like when I try to evaluate an entire apartment and write down its flaws. Luckily, I have a brilliantly artistically gifted fiancee with banging spatial intellect. She pointed out all kinds of things I otherwise might have missed.

I’m going to try to …

Working in a Crappy, Interrupting, Distracting Place - The Fifth Dimension

Just to let you know, I’ve never put more effort into an article than this one. I hope it makes your life a little bit better…please comment. :-)

In my cozy office, with my candle-shaped fountain trickling and citrus-incense blazing, very little effort on my part is required to stay busy and focused. Unfortunately, since I decided not to have internet access at home in order to save money, I can’t always stay in my cave. It’s when I’m hunched over my laptop while enduring a herd …

5 Programs That Will Improve Your Grades

FoxkehMozilla Sunbird

Sunbird is a great, free, calendar application. It has all the standard features, plus the unlimited expandability present in all of Mozilla’s offerings. All students need a planner, and Sunbird is my favorite.

Improvement: Organization.

Mozilla Firefox w/Leechblock Plugin

You already know how much better Firefox is than Internet Explorer. Now, imagine Firefox with a built-in plugin that forces you to manage your time wisely. It might sound brutal, but Leechblock is just the tool you need if you find yourself …

Ronzoni Bistro - Pasta for Rich People

A few weeks ago, New World Pasta’s PR guys asked me to collaborate with them on the release of Ronzoni Bistro pasta. Recognizing an opportunity for free food, I accepted.

They sent me one of each flavor: Penne with Chicken and Broccoli, Linguine with Chicken and Mushrooms, Rotini with Tomato and Basil, and Spaghetti and Meatballs. Here’s my review:

Pros:

  • Very quick - 90 seconds.
  • Very tasty - essentially restaurant quality in a bag. Rotini with Tomato and Basil tasted just like a rotini dish I ordered in

The New Facebook Copies Twitter, is Too Sweet

Yahoo! Search Marketing
Since I run an ad or two for some clickbank products I like on Facebook, I decided to switch to the new style that just came out. The change in ad implementation didn’t strike me as anything unusual, since it is obvious that Facebook is wanting to reduce the amount of scrolling its users do. (Further down the page = further away from advertisements = further away from $$.) What did, however, was the way Facebook has supercharged its …

Preparing for a New School Year - Part Three

Organize your life with FranklinCovey!

Be sure you have already read Part 1 and Part 2 before continuing.

Alright overachievers, learners, and participators, listen up. (Slackers, at least pretend you are listening.) I am now going to break down the positive traits of each type.

Slackers (S)

Let’s start with the Slackers. Instead of continuing to make S’s the bad guys, I’m going to play devil’s advocate for now. What can we learn from Slackers? Here are some of their

Gay Life in School by Peter Merrick

This is a guest article written by Peter Merrick, a Falmouth Student in Cornwall. This is Peter’s second article, and, again, I really appreciate his contribution. Are you struggling with your sexuality in school or are you given a hard time by your peers? Send me your story.

Being gay is never easy. You may always have a feeling of attraction to the same sex from an early age, in my case, primary school. I well remember when I was at primary school, I saw two boys who were in the same year, kissing. They were kissing on the …
