Quick Grammar Lesson – March 22, 2009

When using the conditional tense, be sure you understand how English abbreviates.

Phrase without abbreviation: He could have been killed.

WRONG phrase with abbreviation: He could of been killed.

RIGHT phrase with abbreviation: He could’ve been killed.



Pell Grant Amount for 2009-2010

increaseUpdate: You can read this in the comments if you want, but the maximum amount for the 2009-2010 school year, including the CCRAA will be $5350.

I just wanted to clarify one small thing about the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The Pell grant will increase in stages, with the eventual amount being $5,400.

They key word is eventual. I read through all of the education parts of this LONG piece of legislation to find out that for next year “the maximum Pell Grant for which …

Background Check for Teachers

I meet with my adviser today at 4 to find out what all is on my “rap sheet.” I’ll let you know what happens…

Make Your Life More Efficient – My New Bowls

mynewbowlsFor months I came home to cold, crusty oatmeal plastered upon one of the three bowls I owned. With other, more important things on my mind, I’d toss the bowls into the sink. Each morning thereafter, I’d awake to the realization that I had no clean bowls, so I’d have to waste some of my morning cleaning them.

There were two solutions to this problem:

1. The “easy” way – wash the bowl every time I finished eating out of it.
