13 Majors I Would Enjoy if Grades Did Not Exist
Every semester I gaze longingly at my university’s curricula page wondering what it would be like to escape the liberal arts. Unfortunately, I just don’t have the patience to sit through 10-15 classes which have the sole purpose of weeding out students for upper division. Here’s a sampling of what I might enjoy studying if I did not have to concern myself with grades whatsoever:
- Chemical Engineering
- Computer Science
- Forensic Chemistry
- Computer Engineering
- Geology
- Mathematics
- Mechanical Engineering
- Music Education
- Music Performance
- Nursing
- Physics
- Web Design
- Pre-Medical Technology
When I look at the 3rd and 4th year of these majors, I cannot help but be fascinated. I can only imagine what it would be like to simply be thrown into these classes, without fear of being graded, with the ability to make mistakes and learn at my own pace.
With education becoming more and more institutionalized, I don’t see it happening.
