5 Classes You Need to Take, Regardless of Your Major
Some of these may already be graduation requirements, but if they aren’t, you need to take them anyway.
- A Public Speaking Class of Some Sort. – Public speaking is a skill you will need your entire life. Start while you are young. In the real world, boardrooms and auditoriums won’t be forgiving.
- CPR/First Aid Class. – This course is generally only required for teachers, but everybody should take it. It is a brief class with little to no homework. Plus, you learn how to save lives.
- Foreign Language(s). – There are many benefits to learning a foreign language. I’m a French speaker, but I am beginning to wish I took Spanish instead due to how many Spanish speakers there are in Tennessee. I might start learning anyway.
- World History. – For you Americans, skimping by with American history just isn’t good enough. You need a full sequence of world history so that you can understand how things got to be the way they are.
- Government. – Unless you live somewhere on a pontoon in International Waters, you need to take a class in Government. You need to understand how your nation works if you are going to live in it.
