5 Programs That Will Improve Your Grades
Sunbird is a great, free, calendar application. It has all the standard features, plus the unlimited expandability present in all of Mozilla’s offerings. All students need a planner, and Sunbird is my favorite.
Improvement: Organization.
Mozilla Firefox w/Leechblock Plugin
You already know how much better Firefox is than Internet Explorer. Now, imagine Firefox with a built-in plugin that forces you to manage your time wisely. It might sound brutal, but Leechblock is just the tool you need if you find yourself idling away the hours on the internet. It even has a particularly vicious “lockdown” setting that shuts down all the fun sites so you have to get to work. It’s great!
Improvement: Productivity.
Keynote
I sometimes have 20 saved notepad files on my desktop. Whether it is from a class, idea, or whatever, I accumulate them. Keynote helps me clean everything up and keep my files organized in a text file database. It also automatically backs itself up.
Improvement: Organization.
Openoffice
I never activated Microsoft Office, so I was forced to find an alternative. OpenOffice does everything you can do in the Office Suite, except it’s free.
Improvement: Capability.
Whitesmoke
Whitesmoke is kind of like having a personal proofreader. It spellchecks, grammar checks, and even suggests words or phrases to make your writing more rich. NBC says, “WhiteSmoke is unequaled in its field.” You absolutely have to check it out - especially if you think you need some writing help.
Improvement: Better writing means better grades.

I just think this is an awesome advice program. If I could have stumbled upon this years ago I might not have barely passed Latin, and failed it the second time just to find myself being fun again in being silly.
